NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team (2-0, 2-0 SAC) defeated the Newberry Wolves (0-3-1, 0-2 SAC) in a South Atlantic Conference match, 3-1, following a hat trick from
Felipe Mendonca tonight.
The Wolves would score their only goal of the game in the 15
th minute on a shot from Liam Marolany.
Mendonca answered for Queens, scoring his first goal in the 41st minute to tie the game at 1-1 just before intermission.
In the second half, the Royals did not skip a beat as Mendonca found the back of the net in the 50
th after receiving a pass from
Elvis Menayese.
Louis Goldsack then assisted Mendonca in scoring his fifth goal in just two games in the 66
th.
Queens' defense held the Wolves to just one shot on goal tonight as the Royals placed four shots on frame.
The Royals are back in action in an exhibition at Catawba on Sunday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m.
