Royals Handle Newberry for Win on the Road

NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team (2-0, 2-0 SAC) defeated the Newberry Wolves (0-3-1, 0-2 SAC) in a South Atlantic Conference match, 3-1, following a hat trick from Felipe Mendonca tonight.

The Wolves would score their only goal of the game in the 15th minute on a shot from Liam Marolany.

Mendonca answered for Queens, scoring his first goal in the 41st minute to tie the game at 1-1 just before intermission.

In the second half, the Royals did not skip a beat as Mendonca found the back of the net in the 50th after receiving a pass from Elvis Menayese. Louis Goldsack then assisted Mendonca in scoring his fifth goal in just two games in the 66th.

Queens' defense held the Wolves to just one shot on goal tonight as the Royals placed four shots on frame.

The Royals are back in action in an exhibition at Catawba on Sunday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m.
