SALISBURY, N.C. – Graduate forward Emma Rose Stockton and junior forward Nia Gaither each scored in today's match to lift the third-seeded Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team (16-4-1) over the sixth-seeded North Georgia Nighthawks (10-6-1) in the first round of the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship.

The Royals controlled the pitch this afternoon on the offensive end outshooting the Nighthawks, 23-6, to put 11 shots on goal. However, the Nighthawks would be the first on the board scoring their only goal of the match at 27:26. They then rode the early lead into the halftime break.

In the second half, Queens continued their aggressive play on the attack finding the equalizer at minute 61 when Stockton put the ball in the back of the net off a corner kick from Karen Juarez. Twenty minutes later Gaither netted her third game-winner of the season to secure the first-round victory.

Erica Turner collected three saves in her 16th win of the season. North Georgia's keeper, Sierra Fowler, recorded the loss after totaling nine saves.

Queens will compete in the second round of the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship on Sunday, Nov. 21 facing the winner of the match between second-seeded and 10th rank Catawba and seventh-seed Lenoir-Rhyne.
