CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Royals cruised to their third win of the season collecting a 4-0 shutout victory over Coker University (2-5, 2-4) this afternoon at Bessant Field. The win ends a five-game skid for Queens University of Charlotte (3-7, 2-5) and completes the home-and-home sweep with the Cobras this season.
Â
Queens controlled today's game offensively from start to finish outshooting the Cobras 12-1 and putting six shots on goal. An early goal from
Gabe Lechner would eventually be today's game-winner giving Queens a 1-0 lead in just the fifth minute of play.
Â
In the second, the Royals' Mille Eaton-Jones and Lechner scored back-to-back goals within a minute of each other to increase the home team's lead to three, 3-0, heading into the halftime break. Eaton-Jones' goal was her first of the season.
Â
Victoria Tredinnick then scored the final goal of the day in the third quarter on a pass from
Kennedy Bratton. It was the third goal in the past two games for Tredinnick.
Â
Marlee Geppert recorded today's win in goal after splitting time in the cage with
Avian Thompson.
Â
Queens will have just under a week to rest before heading to Gaffney, S.C., to take on No. 10 Limestone. Be sure to follow the Royals on social media @QueensUFH for news and updates.
