Queens Shut Out at Converse

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team fell today to conference rival Converse University (8-5, 7-3) in a 3-0 game. The loss comes on the heels of two victories this past week for the Royals putting them at 5-9 on the season and 4-7 in conference.

The Royals came out strong on the defensive side, holding Converse to just two shots on goal during the first half. However, Queens only placed one shot on goal in the game's opening half and continued to struggle in the second recording just two shots on goal in the match after scoring 10 goals in their previous two games.

Converse's game-winner came in the 36th from Catalina Pistaccio. Bo Linders assisted on the goal. The Valkyries then added another goal in the third before solidifying their victory in fourth with a goal in the 56th.

Avian Thompson took the loss in net today, making six saves on Converse's 10 shots on goal. This was the first time this season she played all 60 minutes in the cage.

The Royals will look to get back into the win column when they host Newberry College on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. Be sure to follow the Royals on Instagram and Twitter @QueensUFH for updates and news.
