Queens Opens SAC Play with Commanding Win over Coker

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The fifth-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team opened South Atlantic Conference play this evening defeating Coker University 27-0 on the road to improve to 5-0 on the year.
 
Goalkeeper Chase Brokaw picked up the first shutout win of the season after facing just one shot on goal as the Royals outshot the Cobras, 41-1, putting 36 shots on goal. Queens also dominated at the draw winning 23 draw controls to Coker's four while also collecting 19 ground balls to Coker's 12.
 
Offensively, Kara Blanchard and Rachel Perrett each recorded four goals to lead in the category. Kyleigh Masteran and Ally Blood followed with three goals each. Blood also totaled four assists to record a team-leading seven points on the night. Kaitlyn Hardin, Shannon Kingston, and Caroline Pearce each chipped in with three points.
 
Additionally, both Blanchard and Taylor Quade recorded their 100th career point in tonight's win.
 
The Royals got off to a hot start tonight building a 10-0 lead by 19:02 in the first half and they never looked back. At the halftime break, they led 16-0. Queens then added 11 more points to the board in the second half while also not allowing the Cobras to get a single shot off.
 
Queens is back in action on Saturday, March 14 at 1 pm at home against Tusculum University. Their much anticipated rematch with No. 2 West Chester originally scheduled for Monday has been postponed.
