TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte baseball team suffered two losses in a midweek doubleheader on Tuesday, falling 4-3 and 11-2 to No. 7 North Greenville University at Ashmore Park.
Game One: North Greenville 4, Queens 3 (Seven inn.)
Under rainy skies, the Royals fell behind early after the Crusaders scored twice in the third inning for a 2-0 lead. However, redshirt-sophomore
Noah Jones reach base on a one-out single and later scored on an NGU throwing error to put Queens on the scoreboard.
After the Crusaders added a run in the home half of the fifth, Queens rallied for two runs in the sixth to tie the score at 3-all. Jones led off the frame with a single and sophomore
Tanner Jacobson followed with a double down the left field line to put runners in scoring position. Sophomore
Nick Brassington drove in a run with an RBI single to left before redshirt-junior
Mason Pickard reached on a fielder's choice and drove in the tying run.
North Greenville got a one-out double from junior Douglas Angeli who later scored on an errant throw by the Royals to end the game in walk-off fashion.
Redshirt-freshman
Adam Hartle did not factor in the decision after going four innings on the mound, allowing two runs on three hits with two strikeouts in his first career start. Freshman
Caleb Staley and redshirt senior
Christian Huggins combined for two innings of relief before junior
Madisyn Bolin (0-1) surrendered the game-winning run.
Jones was 2-for-3 in game one with two runs scored and a stolen base, while Jacobson was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Redshirt-senior
Ryan Dudney was also 2-for-3 with a double at the plate.
Game Two: North Greenville 11, Queens 2 (Seven inn.)
The Crusaders (10-1-1) carried momentum over into the nightcap, scoring three runs in the opening inning. Queens added a run in the second and another in the fourth to cut the deficit to one run and put pressure on the home team.
However, a six-run fifth inning opened the Crusader lead to a 9-2 advantage before NGU score twice more in the sixth to seal the sweep.
Redshirt-freshman
Drew Meschede (0-1) was hit with the loss after giving up three runs on four hits with two strikeouts in three innings of work. Redshirt-sophomore

Evan Dix, and Staley all made an appearance out of the bullpen.
Offensively, Brassington finished 2-for-4, while junior
RJ Conner was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. Jones recorded a double in the contest as seven different Royals tallied a hit.
Queens hosts Lincoln Memorial University this weekend in the South Atlantic Conference opener for both teams. Game one is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start on Friday, February 21 from Tuckaseegee Dream Fields.
