Pembroke, NC - The Queens University of Charlotte softball team tallied consecutive road victories in its Wednesday doubleheader at UNC Pembroke. Queens won game one by a 5-0 final and made an extra-inning comeback in game two to win 3-1.

Royals junior starting pitcher
Shannon McGuire pitched a superb seven inning shutout limiting the Braves to eight total baserunners. McGuire picked up her third win of the season and was complemented by a quartet of home runs to solidify a decisive victory.

Game Two: Queens 3 UNC Pembroke 1
A first inning score by UNC Pembroke put the Braves on top for the game's majority but senior starting pitcher
Courtney Pearson kept them in the check the rest of the way. Pearson tossed eight innings surrendering just three hits earning her first win of the season. McCullen came up clutch in the top of the seventh knocking in a single to tie the game 1-1. The Royals' late game heroics continued in the eighth when
Kelly Winter singled and
Breanna Martinez capitalized on a throwing error to take the lead 2-1. Pearson pitched a scoreless eighth inning and Queens persevered to its first sweep of the season.
The Royals are back on the road for another doubleheader Saturday, February 15th in Columbus, Georgia against Albany State and Georgia Southwestern at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
