CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's volleyball team evened its season record on Friday night, defeating Lees-McRae College 3-1 (25-23, 25-17, 25-27, 25-18) inside Curry Arena.
Junior
Tristan Santoyo continued his stellar early-season play with a career-high 24 kills, hitting .413 to go along with nine digs. Fellow junior
Josh Bragg followed with a season-high 11 kills and a .556 hitting performance, while setters
Jack Mitchner and
Daniel Leitao combined for 42 assists and 14 digs.
The first set of play was a close one, featuring 14 total ties and 10 lead changes before Bragg sealed the two-point victory with a kill. The Royals took a 4-3 lead early on in the second set and never trailed, going ahead 2-0 in the match.
Following a win by the Bobcats in the third set, Queens rallied from an early deficit in the fourth frame and sealed the match decision to win its second straight match.
The Royals have a few days away from competition before heading north to face Barton College in Wilson, N.C. on Wednesday, January 22 at 6 p.m.
