MARS HILL, N.C. – the 14
th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte Royals had 11 players score in today's 24-2 win over Mars Hill University. The win helps the Royals improve their win streak to eight while also improving their record to 11-2 on the season and 6-0 in South Atlantic Conference play. The Lions fall to 4-9 on the year and 1-5 in the SAC with the loss.
After scoring two goals in the opening minute of play, the Royals never looked back going on 13-0 run in the first half of today's game. The Lions would eventually score a pair of back-to-back goals late in the half before Queens closed with one more to take a 14-2 lead into the halftime break.
The Royals then continued their dominant play in the second half finding the back of the net 10 more times while holding Mars Hill scoreless in the period.
Queens had complete control of this afternoon's game outshooting the Lions 44-5 to put 36 shots on goal. Queens also won the battle at the draw, 22-6, behind
Sydney Hussey's 13 collected. Queens also totaled 25 ground balls to Mars Hill's nine.
Rachel Perrett (4 goals, 3 assists) and
Ally Blood (3 goals, 4 assists) each recorded seven points to lead Queens today while
Hanna Scott added six points on three goals and three assists.
Carson Giordano and
Taylor Quade chipped in with three points each on two goals and one assist and
Katie Wardle,
Sydney Bracken, and
Kyleigh Masteran each added a pair of goals.
Maria Fabrizio scored both of the Lions' goals.
Queens will be back in action on April 10 at Newberry College. The game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
