Box Score

WINGATE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte baseball team suffered a 4-0 loss to Wingate University on Monday night from Ron Christopher Field in the team's season finale.

Wingate scored the game's first run in the opening inning, taking advantage of a Queens fielding error to gain the early lead and held on for the shutout.

Despite a career-high 12 strikeouts from freshman Tanner Jacobson, Queens gave up three more runs in the seventh inning, including a two-run home run to fall behind by a 4-0 score. Jacobson (2-2) suffered the loss after surrendering four runs (two earned) on just four hits across 6.2 innings on the mound.

Freshman Alec Hunter and redshirt-juniors Kollin Schrenk and Max Fries combined for 1.1 innings of scoreless relief out of the bullpen.

The Royals tallied just five hits in the contest as redshirt-sophomore Dominic Ford was 2-for-4 at the plate with a double, the team's only extra-base hit.

Queens ends its inaugural season on the diamond with a 14-30 overall record and a 5-19 mark in South Atlantic Conference play.
