GREENVILLE, S.C. – Daniel Carr recorded his second double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds, and
Shaun Willett scored 20 points with five rebounds, but the No. 7/6 Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team (28-4, 19-1 SAC) fell to fifth-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne University (21-9, 12-8 SAC), 83-68, in the semifinals of the South Atlantic Conference Pilot Flying J Men's Basketball Championship on Saturday night at Timmons Arena. The loss snapped the Royals' nine-game winning streak.

After a Carr jumper with 11:56 to play in the first half, Queens held a 16-14 lead. However, Lenoir-Rhyne answered with an 8-0 run that was capped by an R.J. Gunn jumper with 9:47 remaining in the first putting the Bears ahead, 22-16.

LR never trailed again, taking a 14-point lead into halftime, 45-31, and stretching the margin to as many as 23 points in the second half.

The Bears shot 63.5 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from the three-point line, while the Royals were held to 37-percent shooting and 13.6 percent from distance (3-22). Queens did not convert on a three-pointer until its 14
th attempt when Carr made one with 11 minutes to play in the second half, at the time cutting the deficit to 13, 64-51.

Cory Thomas led Lenoir-Rhyne with 20 points while Bertrand Awana and Djibrill Diallo added 16 and 11, respectively.

Queens enters the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship as the No. 1-ranked team in the Southeast Region. The Royals await the announcement of the tournament bracket, which will be revealed on the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday, March 10, at 10:30 p.m.
