KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte baseball team suffered its third straight loss to Lenoir-Rhyne University on Monday night, falling 12-4 at Intimidators Stadium.
The Bears (10-12, 4-5 SAC) took advantage of five Queens fielding errors to score in all but one inning of play in the series finale. A three-run second inning and three-run seventh inning helped the Bears put the game out of reach.
Queens (5-14, 1-5 SAC) scored twice in the fourth inning and twice more in the sixth, including an RBI double from redshirt-junior
Ryan Dudney, but couldn't overcome the early deficit.
Redshirt-freshman
Nick Nelson (1-4) suffered the loss after giving up five runs (three earned) on five hits with three strikeouts in 3.1 inning of work.
Dudney was 1-for-2 at the plate with a double, a walk, one RBI and two runs scored. Redshirt-freshman
Noah Jones finished 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored of his own, while freshman
Alex Sexton was 1-for-4 with a double.
The Royals have a quick turnaround as they travel to Greenville, S.C. for a matchup with No. 21 North Greenville University at 6 p.m. from Fluor Field.
