Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Royals Fall in Three to No. 2 Hawaii

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the second time in three days, the Queens University of Charlotte men's volleyball team hosted No. 2 University of Hawaii inside Curry Arena. The Rainbows Warriors moved to 7-0 on the year with a 3-0 (25-7, 25-16, 25-10) sweep of the Royals.

Hawaii hit .423 as a team and collected six service aces and 11 total blocks in holding the Royals (2-9) to a -.039 hitting mark. Freshman Jordan Haigh was solid in his play off of the bench for Queens totaling six kills and a .333 hitting percentage to go along with five digs.

The Rainbow Warriors never trailed in the match, opening the first set of play on a 17-1 run before Queens could gain any traction. Back-to-back kills from sophomore Nic Cavllaro sparked a late run for the Royals but the deficit was too much to overcome.

Queens hit positive in the second set of play and kept the frame within reach before ultimately falling by a nine-point margin. Hawaii controlled the third and final set from the first serve to complete the sweep.

Cavallaro led the Royals with seven kills, while fellow sophomore Jack Mitchner had 10 assists. Sophomore libero Ruben Greenstein tied for the team lead with five digs.

The Royals have a quick turnaround as they host Saint Francis University (Pa.) tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Levine Center.
