HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team picked up a crucial South Atlantic Conference win on Wednesday night, downing the Cobras of Coker College 58-50 inside the DeLoach Center.
The win was the second straight League victory for Queens (8-12, 3-11 SAC) who now sits just game behind Coker (5-17, 4-10 SAC) as both teams are making a push for the postseason. The Royals scored below their season average but forced 24 Cobra turnovers and won the rebounding battle, 46-39, including 17 on the offensive end of the floor.
The first and second quarters held identical 14-9 scores leading to a double-digit halftime lead for the Royals. Queens carried momentum into the third period, moving its advantage to an 18-point margin with just one quarter to play.
Queens staved off a fourth-quarter rally by the Cobras and held on for the conference victory.
Senior forward
Lade Adepoju led all players with 22 points, making 9-of-12 shots from the floor and 4-of-5 attempts from the free throw line, to go along with six rebounds.
Freshman
Jaymi Golden also totaled double digits with 11 points, while fellow freshman
Jaleah Goff chipped in 10 rebounds, six points and four assists. Redshirt-senior
Cheyenne Logan provided seven rebounds in just 16 minutes off of the bench.
The Royals return home on Saturday, Feb. 9, to host Tusculum University at 2 p.m. as a part of the University's Homecoming Weekend inside Curry Arena.
