Royals Reach 20-Win Plateau With Four-Set Victory Over Anderson

Queens sweeps season series to claim sole possession of second place in conference standings

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team claimed sole possession of second place in the South Atlantic Conference standings following a 3-1 (18-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-13) victory over Anderson University (S.C.) on the road.

Queens hit .228 as a team and registered 11 service aces to improve to 20-5 overall with a 17-3 conference mark, while Anderson fell to 20-5 overall with a 16-4 League record with the loss.

The Trojans went ahead early with a seven-point win in the opening set before the Royals responded with a win of their own in the second frame to even the match score.

The Royals narrowly won the third set of action to go ahead in the match and put the Trojans on their heels. The fourth set opened with consecutive service aces from senior Mallory Swarts, who finished with six total aces on the night, as Queens hit .469 in sealing the match decision.

Swarts led the offense with 40 assists and seven digs, while junior Casey Tarvin led all players with 19 kills to go along with 22 digs for her 15th double-double of the year. Tarvin reached the 1,000-career kill mark in the victory, becoming just the fourth Royal in program history to achieve the milestone.

Junior Chanel Turner followed with 13 kills and 21 digs of her own as junior libero JayCee Jones totaled a match-high 30 digs and two service aces.

Queens returns to the friendly confines of Curry Arena for its final two matches of the regular season on November 15-16. The Royals host Carson-Newman University on Friday as part of Senior Night, followed by an afternoon match against Lincoln Memorial University on Saturday as a part of Military Appreciation Week.
