Offense Goes Cold for Royals in Loss to No. 15/17 Anderson

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team shot just 29.7 percent from the floor, leading to a 73-49 loss at the hands of defending South Atlantic Conference Champions Anderson University on Tuesday night in the conference opener for both teams.

Anderson (5-1, 1-0 SAC) made 43.4 percent of its attempts, including a 7-for-18 performance from long range and held a 46-31 advantage in total rebounds. The Queens (1-6, 0-1 SAC) defense was able to force 23 turnovers in the contest and converted those miscues into 26 points.

The first quarter of action opened with a 7-2 run by the Trojans, but the Royals quickly responded with 9-2 run of their own, taking a two-point lead on a Kristian Eanes layup with 3:33 remaining. A 3-pointer from freshman Kelsey Leedle less than a minute later put Queens ahead by three, 14-11, before Anderson closed outs the period on a 5-1 spurt to leave the score tied at 16-all.

The Trojans carried momentum into the second quarter and opened the lead to a double-digits, 29-18, on Madison Baggett jumper. The advantage continued to grow, extending a 41-23 at the half.

Anderson's lead grew to as large as a 32-point edge, 66-34, with 4:08 to go in the fourth quarter and the Trojans never trailed in the second half.
