Queens Drops Non-Conference Match at Young Harris

Young Harris, GA - The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team (6-4; 3-2 SAC) fell short by a score of 2-1 to Young Harris (6-3; 0-1 PBC) in a non-conference regional matchup featuring two top-ten teams in the Southeast.

Freshman midfielder Matias Morales put Queens on the board early with his first career goal in the 16th minute assisted by sophomore forward Jaden McCane. The Royals carried their 1-0 lead into the second half until Young Harris evened the score with a goal from its leading scorer Sondre Olsen in the 60th minute.

The Mountain Lions struck again three minutes later after Queens junior defender Henri Huryn was booked for a foul inside the box leading to a penalty score by Yesin van der Pluijm for the eventual game-winner.

Momentum swayed further in Young Harris' direction when Queens junior midfielder Keegan Burton was red-carded ten seconds after the score forcing Queens to play a man-down while trailing by a score. The Royals struggled to manufacture scoring opportunities in the final minutes and suffered the one-score loss.

Queens returns to South Atlantic Conference play at Wingate on Wednesday, October 16th at 7:30 p.m.
