EMMITSBURG, MD. - The Queens University of Charlotte women's rugby team recorded its second National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) loss to Brown University, falling 36-29, Saturday morning.
The Royals are now 4-2 in the NIRA and 5-2 overall in their first-ever season playing in a conference.
Freshman
Alle English led the way for the Royals recording two tries, three conversions, and one penalty kick to account for 19 of Queens' 29 points in the loss.
Angelica Rodriguez and
Abby Tobias each tallied one try as well in the defeat.

Queens was the first to score in the match, as English kicked an early penalty kick with only six minutes run off the clock (3-0).

Following the kick was BU who would score 19 consecutive points before the Royals would answer back with a try from Rodriguez and a conversion from English to make the score 10-19 heading into the halftime break.

Brown began scoring in the second half of play with a try and conversion (26-10), but the Royals saw Tobias run in another try to go within 11 of the Bears (26-15).

BU recorded two more tries to the board before English finished out all scoring for the Royals in the second half with two tries and two conversions of her own, but they weren't enough to defeat the Bears (36-29).

The Royals finished in third in regular fall season play in their first-ever season in the NIRA and will travel to Brown University once again to battle the Bears in a NIRA semifinal match Saturday, November 9. Time of the match will be announced at a later date.
