CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team avenged a late-September loss by picking up a 3-1 (26-24, 24-26, 25-16, 25-16) victory over visiting Tusculum University inside Curry Arena on Friday night.
The win moves Queens, winners of its last six conference matches, to 13-4 overall with a 10-2 mark in South Atlantic Conference play, while the Pioneers fell to 8-9 overall with a 6-6 League mark with the loss.
Queens and Tusculum each tallied a win in the first and second sets of play, leading to a 1-1 tie in the match. However, the Royals hit .302 in the third set and .219 in the fourth while holding the Pioneers to a .056 hitting performance across the final two sets of the match.
Junior
Casey Tarvin continued her stellar play on both sides of the ball, registering her sixth straight double-double with a match-high 24 kills on .306 hitting to go along with 17 digs. Fellow junior
Logan Witt followed with 10 kills and five total blocks, while sophomore
Lindsay Elmore also had five total blocks and two service aces.
Senior
Mallory Swarts also collected a double-double with 36 assists and 16 digs, chipping in five service aces from the back line. Junior
JayCee Jones led the team with 18 digs on defense and fellow junior
Chanel Turner was the fifth Royal in double figures with 15 digs.
The Royals are back in action tomorrow afternoon when the team hosts UVA-Wise at 2 p.m. in the Queen City.
