FROSTBURG, Md.- The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team wrapped its trip up north this afternoon with a 4-0 win over Frostburg State University (0-12). The win improves the Royals' overall record to 8-5 on the year.
Queens dominated play offensively today, outshooting the Bobcats 21-2 to put 16 shots on goal. Goalkeeper
Avian Thompson collected the win in goal after having to record just one save on the day.
Following a goal from
Jill Sherman scored in the 27
th minute that gave the Royals a 1-0 lead at the halftime break, Queens would take over in the third quarter scoring three unanswered goals to increase the lead to four.
Erin O'Reilly struck first with her first collegiate goal in the 35
th after receiving a pass from
Hanna Nechay, and
Molly Walter followed with one of her own in the 39
th. Nechay then teamed up with
Sta'sha Waterfield to score the final goal of the day just ahead of the 45-minute horn. With the goal and assist on the day, Nechay now leads the Royals in points with 15 on the season.
Queens will return to South Atlantic Conference Carolinas play on Friday, October 18 at Limestone. The Royals took the first meeting of the season between the pair and will be looking to collect a season sweep of the Saints. Play is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
