CHARLOTTE, N.C. – In thrilling fashion, the Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team collected a 3-2 (15-25, 25-18, 16-25, 25-23, 15-11) victory over South Atlantic Conference foe Anderson University inside Curry Arena.
The Royals improved to 12-3 overall and 9-2 in conference play, moving into a tie for second place overall in the SAC standings with the Trojans who have an identical win-loss record.
Queens held Anderson to its third lowest hitting performance of the season (.149) behind 14 total blocks, including eight from sophomore
Lindsay Elmore. Freshman
Anna McLain followed with six total blocks and junior
Logan Witt totaled five of her own.
After each team registered a win across the opening two sets, the Trojans hit. 278 in the third set to earn a nine-point win and a 2-1 match lead. Anderson carried that momentum into the fourth set, building an early 6-1 advantage before the Royals fired off three unanswered points to close the gap.
The Royals rallied to tie the set at 9-all on a double block from Witt and fellow junior
Casey Tarvin before gaining an 11-10 on a Tarvin service ace. The two sides remained close until a McLain kill sparked another 3-0 run to give Queens the late edge. Junior
Jordan Proszenyak ended the frame with a kill to force a deciding fifth set of play.
In the fifth and final set, the Trojans got out to an 8-5 advantage before the team switched sides. However, the Royals used a 5-0 run, including two kills and a solo block from Tarvin, to build a 10-8 lead. Queens stretched its lead to a five-point advantage late before closing out the match.
Tarvin led the Royals with a match-high 20 kills to go along with 17 digs and two service aces, while McLain chipped in 10 kills of her own with a .369 hitting performance off of the bench.

Mallory Swarts had 49 assists and 10 digs for her seventh double-double of the year. Junior
JayCee Jones and
Chanel Turner finished with 24 and 20 digs, respectively.
Queens makes a brief road trip to Augusta, Ga. for a rematch with Augusta University on Tuesday before hosting back-to-back games against Tusculum University and UVA-Wise on Friday and Saturday.
