SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team defeated Converse College, 2-1, on the road this evening to complete the home-and-home series sweep over the Valkyries this season. With the win, Queens improves to 7-4 on the year and 6-1 in South Atlantic Conference Carolinas play while Converse drops to 1-10 on the season and 1-8 in the league.

The Royals would score both of their goals in the first half of tonight's game with the first coming from the stick of
Victoria Tredinnick at 13:19 off of a penalty corner.
Sta'sha Waterfield recorded the assist on the play.

Gabe Lechner then found the back of the net in the 27
th on a feed from
Jill Sherman to put the Royals in front 2-0 heading into the halftime break.

The Valkyries saw their lone goal of the night come in the 42
nd from Aleyah Bonaventura.

Queens totaled nine shots this evening, putting six shots on goal while Converse totaled just five shots.

Avian Thompson of Queens recorded two saves in goal to earn her sixth win of the season.

Queens will be on the road at No. 2 Millersville on Sunday, October 13. Play is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
