CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A 3-pointer at the buzzer came up short as the Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team suffered a 65-62 loss at the hands of Carson-Newman University on Saturday afternoon inside Curry Arena.
The Royals (5-8, 0-7 SAC) fell behind early and trailed by 11 points after conclusion of the first quarter. In the second, Queens held the Carson-Newman (12-4, 5-3) offense to a 4-for-18 shooting performance, but fell behind 34-22 at intermission.

Kristian Eanes cut the deficit to just four points, but the Eagles responded with a 4-0 run of their own to maintain and eight-point edge.

Lade Adepoju brought the Royals within one-point of tying the score. The Eagles made two free throws with seven seconds left to extend the advantage to three points and come away with a road win.
As a team, the Royals held CNU nearly 20 points below their season scoring average and forced the Eagles to shoot just 38.3 percent from the floor, including a 3-for-16 performance from long range.
Adepoju tallied 17 points and 16 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season, while Eanes led the Royals with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor and a perfect 5-for-5 performance from the free throw line. Golden chipped in 12 points her own in 26 minutes of action.
Queens continues South Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday, January 16 against Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C.
