CHARLOTTE, N.C. – In the team's first South Atlantic Conference match of the 2018 season, the Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team picked up a 3-2 (25-14, 25-22, 23-25, 19-25, 15-11) win over the Cobras of Coker College inside Curry Arena.
Queens improved to 5-1 overall after hitting .237 as a team while totaling 11 blocks and four service aces. Coker fell to 7-2 overall and hit just .177 as a unit with 28 attack errors. With the victory, head coach

The two sides traded points in the night's first set of action before sophomore outside
Jordan Proszenyak stepped to the service line and led the Royals to seven straight points to build a 12-5 lead. Queens led by as many as 12 points down the stretch and cruised to a 1-0 match lead.
In the second frame, Queens and Coker saw the score tied 10 different times and traded the lead five times. Early on, the Royals led 5-2 before the Cobras took advantage of three consecutive Queens' errors to tie the score.
Coker led by a 17-16 score on back-to-back kills from Olivia Cerick, but Queens responded with three unanswered points, including kills from Proszenyak and fellow sophomore
Logan Witt, to retake the lead at 19-17. The Royals held on to the advantage, going ahead 2-0 in the match following a kill from redshirt-freshman
Gabbi Montgomery.
The Cobras took both the third and fourth sets of play by a combined six points, forcing a deciding fifth set inside the Levine Center.
Queens opened the final frame with a 5-3 lead and stretched the advantage to 8-4 to force a Coker timeout. Following the break, the Royals scored six of the set's next seven points to build a 14-6 lead. The Cobras scored five straight points to keep the match alive before a

Alexandria Becerra put the match away in favor of the Royals.
Tarvin led all players with 19 kills in the match and chipped in 11 digs on defense, while Proszenyak followed with 17 kills and 20 digs for her fourth straight double-double performance.
Witt had a career-high 13 kills and hit .444 to go along with eight total blocks, as Montgomery registered 10 kills and a .529 hitting mark from the middle. Sophomore
JayCee Jones tallied a career-high 30 digs from the back row, Becerra and junior
Mallory Swarts combined for 55 assists and 19 digs from the setter position.
The Royals remain at home as they host league rival Wingate University on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. Queens will host Youth Volleyball Night as all fans 14 years old and under will receive free admission to the game.
