SPARTANBURG, S.C.  – The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team traveled to face Converse College this evening grabbing a 6-0 win to improve to 3-1 on the year and 2-0 in South Atlantic Conference Carolinas play. The Valkyries drop to 0-3 on the year after opening league play at 0-1.

The Royals dominated play tonight in Spartanburg, South Carolina, outshooting the Valkyries 17-3 to put 13 shots on goal. Freshman goalkeepersÂ

Jet van den Berg split time in the cage, facing just one shot on goal from Converse. Additionally, the Royals earned 10 penalty corners in the win to Converse's two.

Victoria Tredinnick, a freshman forward, scored today's game-winner in the 17
th minute of play putting the Royals in front 1-0. Junior forward
Hanna Nechay then followed her goal with a pair, scoring in both the 25
th and 29
th minutes to give the Royals a 3-0 lead at the break.

The Royals continued their attack in the second half with
Renee Smith striking first in the 43
rd.
Maya Forbes then followed with one in the 51
st giving the Queens a 5-0 lead. The goals were the first of the season for both midfielders.

Freshman forward
Molly Walter scored the final goal of the night for Queens in the 58
th minute bringing her season total to three which is the most on the Royals' squad this year.

Queens returns home to Bessant Field at the Queens Sports Complex on Saturday, September 22 when they welcome Belmont Abbey College (1-1) for a conference game. The Royals and the Crusaders split last season's home-and-home series with Queens winning 5-0 at home. The match is scheduled to begin at noon.
