MANSFIELD, Pa.  – The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team traveled to Mansfield, Pennsylvania to face Mansfield University in a nonconference game, winning 3-2 over the Mounties. The Royals now sit 2-1 on the year while Mansfield drops to 3-1 after suffering its first loss of the season.

Despite grabbing the win, Queens was outshot 43-11 putting nine shots on goal to Mansfield's 25. However,
Lanie Walsh (8) and
Jet van den Berg (12) came up huge splitting time in the net to combine for 23 saves. For the second game in a row, Van den Berg held the Royals' opponent scoreless in the second half of action.

Mansfield struck first finding the back of the net in the second minute of play before Queens'
Mazvita Mtisi responded with her first goal of the season to knot the game at 1-1 in the 14
th. The Mounties' Christie Buyer then put her team in front scoring another goal for Mansfield just before the halftime break.

In the second period, Queens' defense held Mansfield scoreless while the offensive unit put two more points on the board to help secure the victory. Mtisi scored the game-tying goal in the 47
th minute beating the Mounties' goalkeeper one-on-one after leaving her defender behind on a breakaway. She then assisted
Jill Sherman in scoring the game-winner in the 67
th.

The Royals will remain on the road for their next match traveling to Spartanburg, South Carolina to face Converse College. The South Atlantic Conference Carolinas game will take place on Wednesday, September 19 at 7:30 p.m.
