CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's rugby team completed its 7-a-side spring regular season after competing in the Southern Conference Championship, hosted by the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, placing third. The Royals completed their inaugural season with an overall record of 12-3.
In pool play, the Royals beat Appalachian State University, 33-14, and Wake Forest University, 31-12, but fell 19-5 to Furman University. This advanced the team to the semifinal round where they faced UNC-Charlotte, the defending conference champions, and national runner-up. Queens would fall 42-7 to the 49ers.
In the match for third and fourth place, Queens beat the Citadel, 28-19, to take third out of 16 teams in the conference.
