CHARLOTTE, N.C.  – The fifth-ranked Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team will face top-ranked Lincoln Memorial University for a third time this season in the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Championship Final on Sunday afternoon. Opening tipoff from Timmons Arena on the campus of Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

The second-seeded Royals advanced to the conference semis for the fourth consecutive season, with a 73-61 victory over seventh-seeded Lenoir-Rhyne University on Wednesday. Queens then defeated third-seeded Carson-Newman, 92-73, to advance to the finals for the second straight season.

The Railsplitters entered the championships as the top-seed after going undefeated at 20-0 during the regular season. They defeated eighth-seeded Anderson, 90-62, to advance to the semifinals where they defeated fourth-seeded Wingate, 76-46.

The Royals feature a balanced offense with four players averaging double-figures. Todd Withers leads the way with 13.6 points per game while Mike Davis is averaging 12.8 points per game. Both Jalin Alexander and Ike Agusi are scoring just over 11 points on each outing. Withers and Davis also lead under glass averaging 8.2 and 5.2 rebounds per game, respectively.

The Railsplitters offense is quite the same in the fact that there are a number of scorers to watch out for as well. Trevon Shaw and Emanuel Terry are averaging over 17 points per game while Dorian Pinson and Cornelius Taylor are averaging over 14 points per game. Terry is also pulling down 10 rebounds per game while Pinson is averaging over nine rebounds.

The Royals defeated the Railsplitters in last year's championship winning 75-72. The win was Queens' last win over Lincoln Memorial who leads the all-time series between the two, 14-3.  This will be the third meeting between the two this year as Lincoln Memorial won both battles during the regular season edging the Royals at home, 73-72, before winning 80-65 in the one versus two matchup just a week ago in Harrogate, Tenn.

Live play-by-play coverage will be available on the Queens Sports Network with Phil Constantino.
