CARY, N.C. – The No. 22 Queens University of Charlotte softball team played a total of five games in the span of two days this weekend in the Shaw Tournament at Thomas Brooks Park. The Royals won all five, taking home three wins on Saturday against three different teams to improve to 23-3 on the season. With today's victories, Queens has won eight games in a row and 16 of its last 17.

After scoring 21 runs in Friday's final contest, the most runs in a single game for the program in over 20 years, Queens again plated 21 for a second consecutive game, crushing Elizabeth City State in the first game of the day by a score of 21-2.Â

Queens followed that up with a dramatic 3-2 win in Game Two as
Abby Lathan forced a game-winning bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh inning against Virginia State.

The Royals then completed a perfect five-game tournament sweep with a 7-4 victory over Millersville.

Sydney Ditto led the charge on offense, racking up a total of six hits and eight RBI on Saturday to go along with seven runs scored. She now leads Queens in batting average (.443), RBI (28), and runs scored (35).

The Royals tallied 30 hits over its three games, including 15 against Elizabeth City State, a game in which 10 different batters recorded at least one hit and eight different batters recorded at least one RBI.
Breanna Martinez led all batters for the day with a single-game high five RBIs in Game One.Â

Sara Ingoldsby finished with seven hits from the leadoff spot, including three hits against Millersville, improving her season batting average to .409.

In the circle, all three of Queens starting pitchers went the distance and picked up wins. First,
Shannon McGuire maintained her perfect record and moved to 10-0 on the season.
Ali Celiberti then pitched a gem in Game Two, allowing only one earned run on four hits to go with six strikeouts in the closest game of the day.
Courtney Pearson improved to 9-2, fanning 11 batters over seven innings.

Queens will take one week off before hitting the road for a doubleheader against Mars Hill on March 17, the first two games of South Atlantic Conference play. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
