ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The seventh-ranked Queens University of Charlotte Royals began their 2018 women's lacrosse campaign this afternoon at No. 3 Lindenwood University (2-0) falling 13-4 to the Lions. Â

Katie Wardle led Queens with two goals and two assists for four points.
Kyleigh Masteran and
Ally Blood added one goal apiece.
Cammy Case led defensively with six caused turnovers and five ground balls while goalkeeper
Chase Brokaw recorded 13 saves in the loss.

Queens quickly fell behind in today's game as the Lions opened with five straight goals to hold a 5-0 lead at 18:03. Queens' first goal of the day would come from Masteran at 15:50. Wardle assisted on the play and went on to score the Royals' second goal of the half at 8:44. They would head into the break trailing Lindenwood, 7-2.

The Lions struck first in the second scoring three straight before a goal from Blood at 23:26 gave the game a 10-3 score. Lindenwood then outscored Queens 3-1 in the final 15 minutes of action to take the 13-4 win in the top-10 matchup.

Cassie Stucklen led the Lions with three goals and two assists for five points. Sophie Buelow, Carly Fedorowski, Sami Smit, and Hailey Gallant each added two goals. Goalkeeper Rachel Ortell totaled six saves for the win.

The Royals will be home at Dickson Field on Thursday, Feb. 22 hosting Tampa. Last year, Queens defeated the Spartans, 19-7.
Shannon Mansberger and
Ally Blood each scored twice in the win while
Hanna Scott recorded one goal. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
