CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The No. 2 Queens University of Charlotte Royals men's basketball team coasted to a 20-point victory this evening winning 93-73 over Mars Hill University on what was Senior Day and the final regular season home contest of the year. The Royals improve to 25-1 on the season and 17-1 in South Atlantic Conference play with the win while the Lions drop to 4-22 on the season and 1-17 in the league.

Five Royals reached double-figure scoring this evening as
Mike Davis led the way with 19 points, seven rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and two steals.
Jalin Alexander followed with 18 points, three rebounds, four assists, and two steals while
Ike Agusi recorded 15 points and eight assists.
Todd Withers added 10 points and five rebounds, and
Shaun Willett totaled 10 points and four rebounds.
Lewis Diankulu added eight points and five rebounds.
Tate Small and
Josh Van Weezep also got on the board with six and three points respectively as all six seniors that were able to play scored in the win.

After a pair of free-throws gave Mars Hill a short-lived lead at the beginning of play, Queens knocked down five straight threes to hold an 18-9 advantage at 15:42. By 12:01, the Lions had closed the gap back to five but a 15-2 run by the Royals put them in front by 18 points, 42-24, with six minutes to play in the half. Queens then saw its largest lead of the first after Alexander knocked down a triple to put the Royals ahead, 45-24, at 5:42. They went on to take a 16-point lead at the break, 56-40.

Queens kept at least a 16-point cushion throughout the second half. Â The margin grew to as much as 30 before the final horn sounded thanks to a pair of back-to-back three-pointers from Davis that put the Royals in front, 88-58, with 5:47 left on the clock.

The Royals' defense totaled eight blocks tonight and forced 14 turnovers by the Lions. Queens converted the mishaps into 14 points. Additionally, Queens totaled 15 made triples, scoring 10 in the first half. They also accumulated 23 assists as a team.

Austin Gilyard led the Lions with 18 points while Luke Van-Rijn added 16 points. Brandon Watkins recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Prior to the start of this evening's game Agusi, Alexander, Davis, Small, Van Weezep, Withers, and
Darryl White were honored for all they have done for the men's basketball program. The group helped Queens post its best record in program history just a season ago while also leading Queens to its first SAC Regular Season and Tournament Championship Titles. They also became the only men's basketball program in the country, at all NCAA levels, to start each of the last three seasons 10-0 or better and became the first Charlotte-area program to receive a No. 1 ranking in men's basketball across all divisions.

Queens will be on the road next week closing the regular season at Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday, Feb. 21 and at No. 1 Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, Feb. 24. Queens defeated the Bears in the first meeting this season by a score of 70-63 to now lead the series, 11-5. Withers led the Royals with 17 points, seven rebounds, three blocks, and two steals. Davis added 13 points and seven rebounds while Agusi recorded his first double-double of the season with 10 points and a new career-high 11 assists. Diankulu finished with nine points, and
Daniel Carr totaled seven points.
