MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's rugby team remains undefeated in conference play after taking another win against Coastal Carolina University Friday night, 15-12.

Three Royals put points on the board for Queens. Bridget Mielke was the first to score a try just 4:30 into play. She was followed by both Abby Tobias and Asiah Peterson who each scored a try to make the score 15-0 heading into the locker room at the break.

Coastal Carolina would score two tries and a conversion in the second half, but they would not be enough to overcome the deficit from the first half.

Peterson led defensively with eight tackles. Abby Berberich and Hannah Struzyk each had five tackles on the day.

In conference play, the team has defeated Elon University, Lander University, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, The Citadel, College of Charleston, University of North Carolina-Wilmington, and Coastal Carolina University.

"We have the University of North Carolina-Charlotte and Appalachian State University left to compete against in conference play for the remainder of the season," said Director of Rugby Katie Wurst. "This win against Coastal Carolina secured us a top-four seed in the conference. The top two seeds will host the third and fourth seeds on March 17 for the first round of conference playoffs."

Queens will host the conference championship at Dickson Field on March 24.

The Royals will shift to focus on recovery in time for their next conference match at home on Sunday, Feb. 11 where they'll take on Western Carolina University. Play is slated for 4 p.m.
