AUGUSTA, GA. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team hit the road for a non-conference contest on Tuesday night, falling to Augusta University of the Peach Belt Conference 3-1 (32-30, 25-20, 24-26, 25-18) inside Christenberry Fieldhouse.
Queens fell to 12-14 overall on the season despite 12 service aces, while Augusta improved to 21-5 with the win after hitting .202 as a team.
The Royals opened the match with a 4-0 lead before the Jaguars used seven unanswered points to jump in front. The two sides traded points throughout the set and Queens led 24-21 looking to seal the win. However, Augusta rebounded and eventually claimed a 32-30 first set win.
Augusta followed with a five-point win in the second before Queens kept the match alive with a 26-24 win in the third set of action. In the fourth, the Jaguar defense held Queens to a .000 hitting mark to earn the home victory.
Sophomore
Casey Tarvin led all players with 19 kills and had 25 digs, while fellow sophomore
Jordan Proszenyak followed with 12 kills and a career-high 29 digs as well as three service aces. Sophomore
Chanel Turner chipped in 11 kills and a.270 hitting performance to go along with 11 digs of her own.
Redshirt-freshman
Alexandria Becerra had 22 assists and 11 digs in just three sets, while junior
Mallory Swarts totaled 17 assists and four service aces. Sophomore libero
JayCee Jones registered 26 digs and a career-high seven assists from the back row.
The Royals return home this weekend for back-to-back matches against Newberry College and Anderson University to close out the regular season. On Friday, the team will honor senior
Taylor Henry in a pre-match ceremony to celebrate Senior Night in Curry Arena.
