CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The sophomore trio of
Jordan Proszenyak,
Casey Tarvin and
Chanel Turner each had double-double performances in leading the Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-22) victory over visiting Tusculum University on Saturday afternoon inside Curry Arena.
Turner led all players with 13 kills and hit .314 to go along with 12 digs, while Tarvin followed with 12 kills, 16 digs and two service aces. Proszenyak chipped in 10 kills and 15 digs of her own as junior
Mallory Swarts provided 36 assists and 10 digs from her setter position.
Queens (10-11, 6-8 SAC) opened the match on a 13-5 run in the first set and led throughout to claim a 1-0 match lead.
The second set of action saw Queens and Tusculum (3-14, 1-10 SAC) trade the lead three times late in the frame before the Royals went ahead 2-0 following a kill from Tarvin. The third and final frame saw just two lead changes as Queens held the Pioneers to a -.036 hitting mark en route to the three-set win.
The Royals return to the road for the next match against Catawba College on Tuesday, Oct. 16 in Salisbury, N.C.
