Postgame Interview with Sarah Jansen
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team suffered a 78-55 South Atlantic Conference loss to visiting Lincoln Memorial University in the Levine Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Royals (4-11, 1-8 SAC) scored the game's opening five points on a layup from
Herning Wang and a three-pointer from
Caitlyn Moore for and early 5-0 lead. However, the Railsplitters (10-5, 6-3 SAC) stormed back with a 9-3 run to take a lead it wouldn't relinquish.
After holding a 13-point lead at the half, LMU quickly extended its lead to a 20-point advantage across the first three minutes of the second half. A layup from
Mendy McNeese and a free throw by
Madison Turlington closed the gap to 12 points before the Railsplitters opened its biggest lead of the night, a 23-point margin, with just over two minutes remaining in the final period.
Lincoln Memorial scored 29 points off of 26 Queens turnovers and made 11-of-23 attempts from three-point range. In comparison, Queens was held under the 40% mark from the floor, but were able to make 18-of-22 shots from the charity stripe.
Junior
Lade Adepoju once again led the Royals with 15 points, followed closely by Moore with 14 points. Wang registered 11 points to round out the double-digit scorers for Queens, while McNeese and Turlington finished with seven and six points, respectively.
Queens remains at home to host Lenoir-Rhyne University on Wednesday, January 17, for a 6 p.m. contest inside Curry Arena.
