CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team faced Slippery Rock University this afternoon at a neutral site in Lexington, Va., falling 3-1 to The Rock. The Royals now sit 0-2 on the year, while Slippery Rock improves to 2-0.

Kayleigh Lawrence scored Queens' lone goal in the 66
th minute after receiving a cross from
Maha Clarke. Lawrence now has two goals on the season.

Slippery Rock got on the board late in the first half when Abby McKay found the back of the cage in the 29
th. The Rock's Brittany Morgan and Sam Geroski then scored a pair of goals in the second half to put Slippery Rock ahead 3-0 before Queens' Lawrence scored the final goal of the day.

Queens was outshot 28-13 with The Rock totaling 16 shots on goal to the Royals' eight.
Kelsey Fringer of Queens recorded 12 saves. Maddie Murphy and Nicole Bream split time in the cage for Slippery Rock totaling seven saves.

The Royals will remain on the road to take on Kutztown University on Sunday, September 10 at noon. The game will be played at Spooky Nook Sports and will be the first NCAA Division II game to be played in the stadium.
