CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team moved to 3-2 on the year and 1-0 in South Atlantic Conference play today after defeating Catawba College at home, 13-6. The Indians fall to 3-3 on the year and 0-1 in league play with the loss.

Garrett Sadler led the Royals with four points on two goals and two assists, while
Griffin Stechmiller and
Justin Swick followed with two goals and an assist apiece.
Jesse Oliver and
Duncan Smith also scored two goals each as
Allen Curtiss,
Laszlo Henning and
Reed Murphy each notched one goal.
Jonathan Paige led with 12 ground balls and won 17-of-21 face-offs.

Queens outshot the Indians, 22-11, in the opening half of today's game to build a 6-3 lead by the halftime break. Their first goal of the day would come from the stick of Oliver at 6:43 in the first, and
Allen Curtiss followed with another at 3:59 to give the home team a 2-0 lead that they would ride into the second quarter.

Queens continued its two-goal run into the second, finding back-to-back scores from Smith and Swick just six seconds apart. However, the Indians offense would finally come alive as they responded with three in a row, one being a man-up goal, to cut the margin to just one, 4-3, with 8:39 left in half. Queens was able to put a stop to Catawba's run when Sadler zipped a ball past the Indians' keeper for a two-goal lead at 3:55, and
Reed Murphy then extended the margin to three, 6-3, with an unassisted goal at 1:29.

The Royals would go on a 4-0 run out of the break, to increase their lead to seven, 10-3, by the 8:53 mark. Catawba answered late in the period to trail 10-5 heading into the fourth where Queens secured their win outscoring the Indians, 3-1.

Queens outshot Catawba, 51-29, this afternoon, putting 34 shots on goal to Catawba's 12. The Royals also won the ground ball battle, 40-18, and took 19-of-23 face-offs.
Anthony Caruso took the win in goal after totaling five saves.

Catawba was led by Liam Lynch who scored two goals. Dalton Cook added one goal and one assist. Goalkeeper Ryan Applegate finished the game with 20 saves.

The Royals will be back in action at Mars Hill University on Saturday, March 11. The game is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
