CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The win streak hits eight matches as the Queens University of Charlotte routs visiting Catawba College 9-0 in a South Atlantic Conference match on Wednesday, March 29 at Freedom Park.
The Royals (9-1, 7-0) flexed its proverbial muscles as they dominated from the beginning in the shutout victory over the Indians (11-11, 4-6).
QU knew it was in for a good afternoon early on as they cruised through doubles action. No. 1 duo
Paolo Bompieri and
Andor Vas won by the final of 8-1, the No. 2 team of
Giovanni Setti and
Sebastian Meum took victory by the tally of 8-3 and
Joel Dunlap and
Will Roberson dominated at the third flight, 8-2.
Things continued to come up all Royals in singles action as Bompieri took the top match, 6-4, 6-2 and
Agustin Aran Martin won at No. 2, 6-0, 6-2.
Andor Vas was strong in the third flight (6-2, 6-3) and
Joel Dunlap rallied in the sixth match, 3-6, 7-5, 10-7.
With the match in hand,
Giovanni Setti and
Zachary Williams closed out with 8-5 and 8-4 victories, respectively.
Queens returns home this weekend as they host Tusculum College at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
