CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis team swept crosstown rival Johnson C. Smith on Thursday, March 09, 2017. The 9-0 win moved Queens to 4-0 on the season as they remain undefeated in division II play. The Golden Bulls dropped to 0-6 after the match.
 
"Every contributed in the win today," said Head Coach Billy Boykin. "It was a total team effort."
 
With the first point of the day, Jordan Owens and Will Roberson went untouched on the No. 2 doubles court (8-0). Andor Vas and Sean Harris followed in the third doubles slot giving up just two games (8-2) while Joel Dunlap and Sebastian Meum secured the paired-sweep with an 8-1 win in the top flight.
 
Giovanni Setti, fourth slot, put the team one step closer to the win, defeating Bradley Girgorio as he dropped just one game in the second set (6-0, 6-1). Agustin Aran Martin tallied the winning point as he topped Robert Andrews 6-0, 6-0 on the No. 3 court.
 
Queens went on to win court two with Paolo Bompieri topping Tarick Miller in mirroring 6-0, 6-0 sets. At the No. 6 court Alvaro de la Osa saw a 6-0, 6-0 win while Zachary Williams tabbed a 6-2, 6-0 score in the five flight. Jules Athalis gave the Royals the sweep as his top flighted match secured a 6-1, 6-2 win.
 
The Royals will host Saint Joseph's University on Saturday. The match will be held at Freedom Park at 1 p.m.
