CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte's women's volleyball team secured a spot in the South Atlantic Conference Championship Semifinal with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 15-20) win over Mars Hill University on Tuesday night.
The win marks the second straight season Queens (21-7) has won a SAC Quarterfinal match. The Royals hit .269 as a team in the match and had eight total service aces, while forcing Mars Hill (11-17) to hit just .167 despite only nine attack errors.
Queens was in complete control throughout the first set of the match, opening with four unanswered points behind the services of sophomore
Lexie Dolecheck. QU led by as many as seven points as senior
Alex Thompson ended the frame with her fifth kill of the evening.
In the second set, Mars Hill led early before Queens claimed its first lead at 10-9. A 9-0 run ensued, again on the heels of Dolecheck's service attempts as the Royals cruised to a 13-point win. The Lions once again held a lead in the third set, by as much as a five-point margin, but Queens completed the comeback with three consecutive points to end the match.

Jordan Proszenyak led all players with 12 kills each, as Proszenyak also finished with 10 digs for her third double-double to go along with three service aces.

Casey Tarvin followed with 11 kills and a career-high 24 digs, junior
Taylor Henry had eight kills, hitting .615 and senior
Sydney Kunz registered 44 assists and 11 digs. Dolecheck tallied two service aces and 15 digs on defense, as freshman
JayCee Jones recorded 12 digs of her own.
The Royals next match will be against rival Wingate University on Friday, Nov. 17, in Jefferson City, Tenn. at 6:30 p.m. Queens and Wingate split two regular season matchups this year with each school winning on its home floor.
