HARROGATE, TENN. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team claimed its second victory of the season over Lincoln Memorial University on Friday night, 3-1 (25-27, 25-23, 25-18, 25-17), inside Mary Mars Gymnasium.
Queens (20-6, 14-5 SAC) spoiled Senior Night for the Railsplitters (13-14, 8-11 SAC) by forcing LMU to hit just .114 in the contest. The loss dropped Lincoln Memorial to seventh place in the league standings with just one regular season game remaining, while the Royals remain firmly in third place.
After the Railsplitters opened the match with a win in the first set of play, Queens responded with a two-point win of its own in the second frame to tie the contest at one set apiece.
The Royals defense forced LMU to a negative hitting mark in the third set, while the Queens' offense hit .237 in the fourth set to secure the road victory.
Freshman
Casey Tarvin led all players with 16 kills and fellow freshman
Jordan Proszenyak followed with 11 kills of her own and a team-high 20 digs.
Senior
Jessica Raines was also in double figures, finishing with 10 kills and junior
Taylor Henry tallied six total blocks at the net. Veteran setter
Sydney Kunz had 45 assists and eight digs in the contest, while freshman
JayCee Jones and sophomore
Mallory Swarts chipped in 18 and 12 digs, respectively.
Queens concludes the 2017 regular season tomorrow against Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tenn. at 5 p.m. The Royals have already locked up a spot in the South Atlantic Conference Championships and will host a quarterfinal match on Tuesday, Nov. 14 in Charlotte.
