CHARLOTTE, N.C.-  The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team suffered a second half loss to the Eagles of Carson-Newman on Saturday, September 24, 2016. The Eagles scored all three of their goals in the second half to take the win and move to a 7-1 overall record and a 3-0 South Atlantic Conference record. The Royals dropped to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in league play.

The two teams sat even through the first half with both sides finding opportunities. However, a momentum swing befell the second half when Carson-Newman's Julianne Herrity netted a ball off a pass from Holly Talbut-Smith. She tab her second goal of the night off a header from Varin Ness ten minutes later. The Royals pushed on offense finding chances but were unable to find the back of the net as Carson-Newman posted one more goal from Averi Williams with five minutes left to play. Sydney Spadafora received credit for the assist.

The Royals outshot Carson-Newman 16-13 as the team battled in the offensive third of the field. Rachel Quest tabbed five saves during the game. Charlotte Ring led the Royals with six shots.  

Ness led the Eagles in shots with four during the game. Jacqueline Burns would total five saves.

Queens will be back in action on Wednesday, September 28, as the team hosts Mount Olive at 5 p.m.
