BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team traveled to Lynn University, of the Sunshine State Conference to open their season play this evening. The Royals would fall 2-0 to the Fighting Knights, opening the year at 0-1 while Lynn begins the 2016 season at 1-0.

The Fighting Knights took control of the game early tonight, creating numerous chances till Donish Cole opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a great strike from the edge of the area. Queens would try to match the Fighting Knights, recording their first shot of the game in the 37th minute, off a header from Charlotte Ring. However, her shot would be turned away by Lynn goalkeeper Alexa Downie. Though coming up short, the Royals gained momentum from the play heading into the final minutes of the first half, but they would still sit scoreless at the break.

Yet, the Fighting Knights would double their lead in the 64th minute, after a cross from Caroline Duerr was met by Cole at the back post to double her tally for the day. Queens' three shots on goal in the half would follow the Fighting Knights' score, but each time Downie was there to collect the save securing her clean sheet for the night.
