Royals Fall in Double OT at Tusculum

GREENVILLE, Tenn. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team, currently ranked eighth in the NSCAA NCAA Division II Men's Southeast, traveled to take on Tusculum College, ranked sixth in the region. The Royals would play the Pioneers to a draw in regulation before falling 1-0 in double overtime. The loss brings Queens' record to 3-2, while the Pioneers open South Atlantic Conference play at 1-0 and move to 4-0 on the season.

After 90 minutes of action and the score knotted at 0-0, tonight's game headed into overtime. The Royals' Edmundo Robinson would put the only shot on frame in the first overtime period in the 91st minute, but it would be turned away by Pioneer goalkeeper Jorge Alvarez forcing the game into double overtime.

Tusculum would steal the game in 101st minute as a through ball slipped past Queens' Sergio Lemus and into the net. Isai Hernandez was awarded the golden goal, and Andre De Giorgi was credited with the assist on the play.

Queens took 18 shots this evening, putting eight shots on goal. The Pioneers matched the Royals' shot on goal count after taking 16 total shots. Queens' Corey Brown, Celes Vilar and Robinson each tallied two shots on goal in the game. Lemus completed play with six saves.

The Royals will be back at home on Dickson Field on Saturday, September 17 against Lincoln Memorial University at 4:30 p.m. Last season, Queens fell 2-1 to the Railsplitters in overtime on the road. Dudu Campos scored the lone goal for the Royals in the loss.
