Charlotte, N.C.-  The Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis team tabbed a conference win against Carson-Newman on April 9, 2016. The Royals secured the win with a 7-2 victory as the team move to 10-2 overall and 8-1 in South Atlantic Conference play. The Eagles dropped to 6-12 overall and 3-7 in league. The day would also serve as Senior Day as the team recognized Per-Erik Soler and Ole-Jacob Meum.

"We were up and down today with our play, but fought hard to close out some tight singles matches," said Head Coach Billy Boykin. "Fittingly, our seniors led the way for us today on Senior Day, notching three total team points, including the clincher."

Boykin continued, "I can't say enough about our two seniors. Apart from being productive student-athletes of the highest order, they are really terrific guys. We will miss them and are grateful to them for all of their contributions to our program over the years."

Per-Erik Soler and Andor Vas tallied the first win of the day, blanking Stefano Daza and Juan Sebastian Perez, 8-0. Jordan Owens and Will Roberson tabbed the second win for the team as they found the point on court No. 3 with an 8-5 victory.

Heading into singles play, Soler took the first point with a 7-5, 6-0 victory for the top flight. Jules Athalis moved the team one step closer as he took court two, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. The match would be clinched by Ole-Jacob Meum who found a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Kevin Mendes on the fifth court.

Queens rounded out the day with wins from Zachary Williams in the No. 4 spot with a 6-2, 5-7, 12-10 victory and Jordan Owens in the No. 6 spot with a 6-3, 7-5 victory.

The team will be back in action on Tuesday, April 12, as they host Newberry in a 1 p.m., match.
