CLEMSON, S.C. — The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's triathlon team competed in the 2016 Triathlon Collegiate Club National Championships on Saturday, April 23, 2016. The women's team claimed the second overall team finish with 1,987 points to fall just behind UCLA in the event who scored 2,054 points. Colorado tabbed first for the men with 2,048 team points.
Additionally, Queens had a combined result placement of seventh as they tallied 3,798 points between their male and female competitors. The men's team would conclude the day in ninth place with 1,811 points.
In the Daft Legal Sprint competition, Queens'
Caroline Condon finished the day with the 14
th fastest time with a 1:05:28.91. The men's team saw Eli Smith finish the event in 17
th place with an overall time of 55:56.14. Both would finish in the top half of the race as more than 40 females and 50 males competed in the event.
In the Olympic Distance competition,
Logan Cerwin found the fastest time on the women's side for the team posting a 2:23:18.10. She would finish with the 11
th overall finish. Again taking to the competition, Condon raced her way into 20
th overall to tab a time of 2:26:31.92. Not far off, Queens saw
Phelan Purnell put together a 2:27:24.54 performance to reach 23
rd in the results.
Jessica Tomasek rounded out the women's competition to take the 37
th overall finish crossing the finish line with a time of 2:29:38.00.
The men's competition started with
Seth Rider tabbing the 22
nd overall finish of the day as he found a time of 2:04:42.23. Finish six spots behind, Eli Smith found raced his way to the No. 27 spot in the rankings to cross with a time of 2:06:00.91. Queens placed one more athlete inside the top 30 as
Graham Pimentel rounded out the spots with a time of 2:06:31.73.
Also competing was
Flynn Lancaster who finished 182 with a time of 2:21:58.35 and
Andrew Fairman with a time of 2:22:47.38 for 194
th place.
In the mixed-team-relay competition (2-women & 2-men), the Royals finished 13
th, led by
Caroline Condon's 3
rd-fastest relay-leg split of all women in the country.
