CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team extended their win streak to seven tonight with a 92-84 win over the University of North Georgia. The Royals remain undefeated at 7-0 with the road win, while the Night Hawks fall to 2-4 on the year.
Jalin Alexander led the Royals with a new season-high 26 points after shooting 6-7 from the floor, and a perfect 13-13 from the charity stripe.
Daniel Camps followed with 15 points and seven rebounds, while
Ike Agusi added 11 points.
Todd Withers pulled down 15 rebounds for a new career high in the category, and
Darryl White scored a career-high 16 points.
The Royals led the entire night after jumping out to a 10-4 lead in the opening minutes of play. Following a three-pointer from Agusi at 11:47 that gave Queens a 23-13 lead, the Night Hawks pulled within three, 25-22, thanks to a 9-2 run. After the spurt, North Georgia would hang close to Queens until the Royals ended the half with 10 unanswered points to take a 45-31 lead at the break.
The 14-point advantage at the half would be the Royals' largest lead of the night as the Night Hawks pulled within four of Queens, 47-43, on a jumper from Roderick English at 15:26. Though North Georgia continued hang around, the Royals managed to create a 10-point lead at 12:26 following a three-pointer from White. White then helped his team extend the lead to 13, 67-54, with a pair of free-throws.
The Night Hawks made their last push in the final two minutes of play cutting the Royals' lead to three, but Alexander held steady putting the game away with six points from the foul line in the final 30 seconds.
Tyler Dominy and Juan Rivas each scored 14 points to lead the Night Hawks. Ebo Smith totaled 12 points, and Sean Brennan scored 11 points. Shaquan Cantrell chipped in with 10 points.
Queens will return home to host Anderson University on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. in Curry Arena. The Royals swept the Trojans last season in conference play.
