ANDERSON, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte volleyball team wrapped their regular season this afternoon falling 3-1 (13-25, 25-17, 19-25, 19-25) on the road to Anderson University. The loss brings the Royals' record to 19-8 on the year and 16-6 in South Atlantic Conference play. Queens' conference record is their best since joining the SAC. Anderson closes at 19-11 on the year and 14-7 in the league.

Meredith Jones led the Royals with 13 kills today, while
Julia Forbes added 11 kills.
Taylor Henry totaled nine kills, and
Sydney Kunz recorded 39 assists. On the defensive side,
Megan Mancini totaled 18 digs.
Alex Thompson led in blocks with five.

The Trojans opened today's match jumping out to a 7-1 lead in the first set. The Royals struggled finding their offensive rhythm, trailing 19-8 at one point before dropping the set 25-13.

Queens took over the lead in set two scoring six straight points. A ball handling error by the Trojans would return the serve to Queens just before the push. A 5-0 run later followed, increasing the Royals' lead to 13-6. Queens continued stringing together runs to take the win and even things at 1-1.

The Royals trailed the entire third set falling behind 16-8 after a 4-0 run by Anderson. A pair of kills by the Royals would cut the margin to six, 16-10, but the Trojans answered pack to increase their lead back out to eight, 19-11, taking advantage of back-to-back errors by Queens. The Royals tried to fight back late putting three straight on the board to close the gap to six once more, 23-17, but Anderson took the win grabbing their final two points on errors from the visitors.

In the fourth, a four point push started with a kill from Jones and capped with a kill from
Sydney Kunz helped the Royals build a 9-6 lead. Unfortunately, four unanswered points for the Trojans soon followed giving them control of the set for good.

The Trojans were led by Marissa Mitter who totaled 17 kills. Rachel Burts added 10 kills, while Kathryn Huges totaled seven. Emily Conlin recorded 45 assists. Â

The Royals finish the year tied for third in the SAC. They will be the No. 4 seed in the South Atlantic Conference Championships which begins on Tuesday. Queens will host Anderson University at 7 p.m.
