CHARLOTTE, N.C. –The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team fell 2-1 to Brevard College this afternoon, falling to 3-7-1 in South Atlantic Conference play and 6-8-1 on the year. The Tornados improve to 4-7 in the SAC and 7-8-1 on the season with the win.
Ryan Ejezie got the Royals on the board early with a goal in the fourth minute after rebounding a shot and beating the keeper one on one in the box. Brevard soon responded in the eighth with a goal from Camilo Sosa that bounced off the post and into the net. The 1-1 score held until the break.
In the second, Queens saw an opportunity when
Corey Brown sent a ball towards the back of the net that was turned away by Brevard's keeper, Heath Turner, in the 57
th. Soon after the shot, the Tornados' Cade McCurry scored the game winner in the 59
th on a header that bounced off the post and into the net.
The Royals had a few times to even the score again with their best shot coming from
Celes Vilar in the 69
th. Vilar took a shot from the right side of the box that looked to be heading to the back of the net, but it would bounce off the crossbar and it the keeper's hands.
The Royals outshot Brevard 24-12, putting eight shots on goal to the Tornados' six.
Sergio Lemus completed play with four saves.
Prior to the start of the game, seven seniors were recognized for their careers. They were

Corey Brown,
Marc-Kevin Schwenk,
Isaac Walker,
Celes Vilar and
Luis Hernandez.
With the loss, Queens finishes the regular season ranked ninth in the league just missing the South Atlantic Conference Championships.
