Jefferson City, Tenn. – Capitalizing off their victory against Brevard College yesterday, No. 36 Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis (9-1, 4-1 SAC) carried their momentum to Carson Newman (3-7, 2-5 SAC) on Sunday, March 29, 2015 to face the Eagles. Queens overcame a 2-1 Carson-Newman lead after the doubles matches, persevering to the end to find the 6-3 win.

After dropping two of the doubles matchup, the Royals recomposed themselves to take five of singles courts. Per-Erik Soler fought to overcome a third set for the No. 1 singles spot against Joao Pedro Oliveria reaching a 6-4, 6-7, 6-0 score. Jules Athalis took court 2 moving in front of Juan Perez with equaling set scores of 6-4, 6-4. In a fight for the first set, Will Roberson found the break to take the set 7-5 for the No. 3 singles spot. Maintaining focus, he marched through set two with a 6-4 score for the win. Ole-Jacob Meum mirrored his teammate, Roberson, in the No. 5 singles seed with a contested 7-5 first set before grabbing the second set 6-4. Zachary Williams capped the match off with a dominate performance for the No. 6 singles taking a 6-3, 6-0 win.

The Royals started the day with Soler and Andor Vas securing the only doubles point. The duo found control on the court to move past Stefano Daza and Garret Duron for an 8-4 No. 1 singles victory.

After back to back matchups, the Royals will have a break schedule tomorrow before they host Mars Hill on Tuesday, March 31 at 1 p.m.
